Joanne Shofner, an advocate for Texans, recently shared her perspectives on social media regarding issues pertinent to the state. Her tweets addressed concerns about THC products, acknowledged support from a prominent political figure, and provided updates on legislative matters.
On June 1, 2025, Shofner emphasized the necessity of safeguarding Texans from “the mostly foreign produced, and totally unregulated edible THC (if that’s what it actually is) industry,” while advocating for the expansion of the Texas Compassionate Use Program (TCUP). She clarified that products like CBD lotions and oils are exempt from her concerns. “It’s so incredibly important to protect Texans from the mostly foreign produced, and totally unregulated edible THC (if that’s what it actually is) industry (CBD lotions, oils, non consumables, etc. are exempt) and instead expand the Texas Compassionate Use Program (TCUP).”
On June 2, 2025, she expressed gratitude for Congressman Rick Santorum’s visit and his advocacy for Texas values such as faith, family, and freedom. Shofner highlighted his ongoing support for these principles. “Great to have Congressman Rick Santorum stop by! He’s always been a strong advocate for Texas values — faith, family, and freedom. Grateful for his continued support!”
Later on June 2, 2025, Shofner discussed Senate Bill 3 (SB 3), which involves restrictions on certain THC products. The bill passed with unanimous approval in the Senate (31-0) and substantial bipartisan support in the House (95-44). Shofner reaffirmed her conservative Republican stance amidst this legislative context. “SB 3 banning some THC… got voted out of the Senate 31-0 and out of the House 95-44… I ran as a conservative Republican. I’ve always been one. I will always be one.”
The Texas Compassionate Use Program allows specific medical conditions to be treated with low-THC cannabis under strict regulations.
