The Stephen F. Austin beach volleyball team will host the Sandy Boot Scoot event featuring the McNeese Cowgirls and the Sam Houston Bearkats on April 3, according to an announcement from the university on Apr. 2.
The tournament is set to bring together three teams for a series of matches and will also include a Senior Day ceremony honoring four SFA seniors. The schedule begins with Stephen F. Austin facing Sam Houston at 11:00 a.m., followed by McNeese playing Sam Houston at 1:00 p.m., and concludes with SFA taking on McNeese at 3:00 p.m.
McNeese enters the weekend with a strong record of 16-5 overall and is currently 4-2 in Southland Conference play. In their last meeting during the Southland Mid-Season Tournament, McNeese defeated SFA by sweeping all five matches. Key players for McNeese include Kendall Osgood and McKenzie Moore in flight one with eleven wins, as well as Rylee Lansing and Victoria Simmang in flight two who have secured fifteen wins this season.
Sam Houston arrives at the tournament holding a record of two wins and seventeen losses, but recently achieved their first win over SFA in program history during last weekend’s South Florida Tournament, winning by a score of three to two. Tatum Lockhardt and Michaela Panekova lead Sam Houston’s flight one pairings with seven victories so far this season.
SFA enters its Senior Day ceremony with an overall record of four wins and fourteen losses, including one conference win out of six attempts. Mikaela Dioso-Lopez and Gianna Reamer have led their team this year with eight total wins, six coming from flight five matchups.
