The Stephen F. Austin women’s golf team finished in 18th place out of 19 teams at the Golfweek/Stifel Spring Challenge, which took place from April 6 to April 8, according to an announcement on Apr. 9.
The tournament offered the Lumberjacks a chance to compete against a strong field over three rounds. The event was held in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
On the first day of play, all four Stephen F. Austin golfers began with pars on holes one through three and recorded one early birdie as a team. Taryn Clayton led the team on the front nine with an even-par performance, while both Clayton and Avree Fields each made three birdies for six of the team’s seven total birdies in round one. Celine Aramsatjakool had a notable stretch with nine consecutive pars and ended her round at five-over par.
During day two, Aramsatjakool finished her round with four straight pars while Fields added a birdie on hole eighteen. Aramsatjakool posted a +7 score for the round, closely followed by Fields at +8.
In the final round, Marley Dickens and Fields contributed three combined birdies for Stephen F. Austin. Dickens also achieved six consecutive pars after her birdie during this round. Both Dickens and Aramsatjakool shot rounds of +6, with Aramsatjakool finishing tied for fifty-second overall—leading all SFA players in individual standings.
Looking ahead, Stephen F. Austin will close out its season by competing at the Southland Golf Tournament beginning Monday, April 13 in San Marcos.
