The Stephen F. Austin women’s tennis team will play its final home matches of the season against Lamar on April 6 and University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) on April 8, with both matches scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Senior Day festivities are set to start at 9:00 a.m. before Monday’s match against Lamar.

These upcoming matches are significant as they mark the last opportunity for fans to see seniors Ksenia Mamontova, Felicia Back, and Alkmini Giannakogiorgou compete at home this season. The Lumberjacks currently hold a 6-8 overall record and sit fourth in the Southland Conference standings with a conference record of 4-3.

Lamar arrives in Nacogdoches with a 9-8 overall record and is ranked eighth in the conference with two wins and five losses in league play. Historically, SFA trails Lamar in their all-time series, having won five out of nineteen meetings; however, SFA defeated Lamar by a score of 7-0 during their most recent encounter last season. Key players for Lamar include Luana Paiva, who has ten singles victories this year, and Asta Miettinen with eight singles wins.

UIW comes into the week holding a season record of five wins and nine losses. They are positioned just below SFA in the conference standings but have yet to win against SFA historically; SFA leads their series eight games to none after winning their previous meeting by another clean sweep. UIW’s Estefania Gonzales was recently named Southland Conference Player of the Week.

SFA looks to maintain its undefeated home record through these final two matches. Sonja Rooth leads the team in singles victories this year with nine wins while Mamontova follows closely behind with six singles triumphs.

Looking ahead, fans can stay updated on schedules, scores, rosters, news, ticket access, and exclusive content through Stephen F. Austin Athletics’ new mobile application available on both major app stores.
