According to a recent proposal, the Angelina County Board of Commissioners believe the City of Lufkin should pay more for its landfill service.

The county’s proposal would also mean there will be an increase in fees for residents as well. Angelina County Judge Don Lymbery said there has not been a rate increase in a decade.

“I don’t think there is going to be near as big a problem as some of the City Council members were saying," Lymbery told KTRE. "It is not a big problem; it is really not. We are going to negotiate. Everything is going to be agreed between the city and the county. Right now, we are somewhere in the neighborhood of $6 million behind what we should have in there now. We have $7 million in there right now to operate the landfill.”
