There were 968 students enrolled in Newton ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, a slight increase compared to the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.2% of them were boys, and 46.8% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 56.7% of the Newton ISD total enrollment.

Newton ISD roughly covers schools within Newton County with its main office in Newton.

Among the three schools in Newton ISD, Newton Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 380 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
