Shepherd ISD Education: 1,958 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 1,958 students enrolled in Shepherd ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.4% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53% of them were boys, and 47% were girls.

The most represented ethnicity among Shepherd ISD students was white, accounting for 48.1% of the student population.

Shepherd ISD roughly covers schools within San Jacinto County with its main office in Shepherd.

Among the four schools in Shepherd ISD, Shepherd High School recorded the highest enrollment of 601 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
