Enrollment Analysis: multiracial students comprised 5.1% of Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD schools' student body in 2022-23 school year

There were 82 multiracial students enrolled in Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 6.5% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD schools welcomed 1,622 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, multiracial students comprised 5.1% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD roughly covers schools within San Jacinto County and has a main office in Coldspring.

Among the four schools in Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD schools, Street Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of multiracial students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 28 students.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
