Apple Springs ISD schools Education: 13 African American students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 13 African American students enrolled in Apple Springs ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 44.4% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Apple Springs ISD schools welcomed 207 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 6.3% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Apple Springs ISD roughly covers schools within Trinity County and has a main office in Apple Springs.

Among the two schools in Apple Springs ISD schools, Apple Springs High School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of eight students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
