Enrollment at Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD schools increased by 3.8% compared to previous school year

There were 1,591 students enrolled in Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 3.8% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 53.4% of them were boys, and 46.6% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 67.8% of the Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD total enrollment.

Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD roughly covers schools within San Jacinto County with its main office in Coldspring.

Among the four schools in Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD, Coldspring-Oakhurst High School recorded the highest enrollment of 492 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
