There were four Hispanic students enrolled in Etoile ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 100% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Etoile ISD schools welcomed 94 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, Hispanic students comprised 4.3% of the student body to be the least represented ethnicity in the district.

Etoile ISD roughly covers schools within Nacogdoches County and has a main office in Etoile.

Etoile Elementary School was the only school in the district which enrolled Hispanic students, welcoming four students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
