There were 1,593 students enrolled in Huntington ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.4% of them were boys, and 47.6% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 85.9% of the Huntington ISD total enrollment.

Huntington ISD roughly covers schools within Angelina County with its main office in Huntington.

Among the five schools in Huntington ISD, Huntington High School recorded the highest enrollment of 499 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
