There were 711 students enrolled in Joaquin ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 4.3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.6% of them were girls, and 48.4% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 78.8% of the Joaquin ISD total enrollment.

Joaquin ISD roughly covers schools within Shelby County with its main office in Joaquin.

Among the three schools in Joaquin ISD, Joaquin Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 344 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
