Enrollment Analysis: Asian students comprised 1.1% of Pineywoods Community Academy School District's student body in 2022-23 school year

There were 11 Asian students enrolled in Pineywoods Community Academy School District in the 2022-23 school year, 10% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Pineywoods Community Academy School District welcomed 997 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Asian students comprised 1.1% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Pineywoods Community Academy School District roughly covers schools within Angelina County and has a main office in Lufkin.

Among the three schools in Pineywoods Community Academy School District, Sarah Strinden Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of Asian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of seven students.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
