Hudson ISD schools Education: 197 African American students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 197 African American students enrolled in Hudson ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.5% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Hudson ISD schools welcomed 2,768 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 7.1% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Hudson ISD roughly covers schools within Angelina County and has a main office in Lufkin.

Among the five schools in Hudson ISD schools, W. F. Peavy Primary School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 60 students.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
