There were 604 white students enrolled in Shelbyville ISD schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 604 white students enrolled in Shelbyville ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 12.7% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Shelbyville ISD schools welcomed 831 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 72.7% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Shelbyville ISD roughly covers schools within Shelby County and has a main office in Shelbyville.

Shelbyville School was the only school in the district which enrolled white students, welcoming 604 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
